
Join VLT Stewardship Staff this Earth Day at Big Rock Preserve. Volunteers will participate in a variety of restoration activities, such as invasive species removal and trail restoration. This historic rainy season brought significant changes to the landscape at Big Rock Preserve. We invite you to join us in our effort to beautify this hidden gem.
All volunteers must submit a signed waiver
Hazards
- Tripping hazards: uneven terrain, exposed roots, and Arundo canes
- Vegetation: poison oak, scratchy vegetation
- Sun exposure
- Wildlife: birds, lizards, turtles, and frogs are most commonly seen; snakes (including rattlesnakes) have been observed, but not as common
What to bring
- Sturdy shoes with good ankle support are best
- Long-sleeved shirt and pants to protect from sun exposure and vegetation/poison oak
- Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen for sun protection
- Backpack with water and snacks
VLT will provide gloves and tools
Reminders: street parking only, no restrooms
