The mission of Ventura Land Trust (VLT) is to permanently protect the land, water, wildlife and scenic beauty of the Ventura region for current and future generations. Founded in 2003, Ventura Land Trust is the largest accredited land trust in Ventura County. Ventura Land Trust owns and manages over 3,800 acres of protected lands in the Ventura hillsides, Ventura River, and coastal estuary. VLT manages its lands in perpetuity with scientific integrity, and balances open space protection with public access. Approximately 800 members and 1,000 volunteers support Ventura Land Trust each year, assisting in the hands-on work of preserve restoration, trail building, invasive plant species management, and trash removal. Ventura Land Trust is an accredited member of the Land Trust Alliance.
