Community Meeting: Harmon Canyon Preserve Trails

Have you ever hiked, run, or cycled at Harmon Canyon Preserve? On Tuesday, October 26th at 5:30 PM, Ventura Land Trust staff will host a community meeting to discuss the next phase of proposed trails at Harmon Canyon. The discussion will include a background on sustainable trailbuilding, and how the science of trailbuilding fits in with Ventura Land Trust's conservation goals for the preserve.

Providing public access on land permanently designated for conservation is a delicate balance. By building trails with sustainability in mind, Ventura Land Trust works to mitigate the impact public access has on land, wildlife, and surrounding lived environments.

Ventura Land Trust's current trail plan takes into account user types, soil composition, slope severity, water management, wildlife passage, and neighboring properties. The meeting will review such trail design elements as switchbacks, grade reversals, drains, and anchors points, as well as our design and construction partners.

This meeting will be a community dialogue where questions are welcome and encouraged.
Capacity is limited to 100 individuals. RSVP today.
