Diversity Collective creates programs that build community for LGBTQ+ youth!
Their Rainbow Umbrella and Little Unicorns groups are joining Ventura Land Trust's (VLT) Ventura Wild educators on a guided program at Big Rock Preserve.
Participants will explore this VLT preserve through games, crafts, and songs. We will focus on awareness and appreciation for the diversity and interdependence of all living things. Topics include the natural sciences, stewardship, plant identification and exploration of our local ecosystem. Ventura Land Trust education staff are experienced outdoor educators with years of skills and knowledge in bringing families and nature together.
Big Rock Preserve is located on the Ventura River just south of Foster Park along the Ojai-Ventura Bike Trail. The preserve, cleared of invasive arundo reed, features trails, native plants, and abundant wildlife. We recommend wearing layers to this excursion so you'll be comfortable in the cool shade or warm sun, as well as a hat and closed-toe shoes. Bring sturdy water shoes (not flip flops) for river wading. Parking is available at Foster Park (paid) or under the Casitas Vista Road overpass (free).
