Join Ventura Land Trust and the Museum of Ventura County forEnvironmental Speaker Series: Ecosystem Engineerswith science communicator and naturalist Holly Lohuis. In Ecosystem Engineers, Lohuis will discuss what she has learned in her research on whales and their influence on the ecology of oceans and the Santa Barbara Channel. By increasing public awareness of the challenges facing the health of whale populations, Lohuis hopes to help enhance humans’ connection to and relationship with whales and their ocean home.
Lohuis has worked in partnership with the Jean-Michele Cousteau Society, Island Packers, Santa Barbara Maritime Museum in ocean science research. She is currently spearheading an effort to designate the Santa Barbara Channel as a Whale Heritage Site.
