For the 3rd year running, a large group of Ventura Land Trust volunteers are needed to CHEER FOR RUNNERS ALONG THE RACE ROUTE at the Mountains 2 Beach Marathon on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. The organizers of the Mountains 2 Beach Marathon generously support VLT and in exchange, we help out.

CHEERERS are needed to be a part of the VLT Cheer Squad and help us win the M2B Community Challenge. We dress up in costumes, dance, sing, drum, squeal, use noise makers and do everything we can to motivate the runners to make it to the finish line AND be the most memorable cheer team along the race route.

The teams that get the most votes from the runners as the most spirited and memorable wins cash prizes. The first year of this challenge, we came in first. Last year, we didn't make it into the top three. On May 27 we plan to reclaim our status as NUMBER ONE!

Here's the scoop:

* We need 20 creative, fun-loving, out-going, loud people to help us cheer and WIN the challenge

* Are you an early riser? All cheerers must be available from 6:00 am till about 1:30 pm.

* If you play a loud instrument - that would be awesome. Bring your drums, saxophone, trumpet, bagpipe - anything that makes lots of noise!

* Are you part of a club, group, band or team and looking for a way to help the environment? We'd love for an existing group to step up and become VLT's cheer squad for one day!

If we win the competition, the prize money will go toward our Thomas Fire Recovery Project. How great is that?
