On the third Saturday of each month, VHC staff and volunteers come together from 9 am-12 noon to clear invasive (Arundo donax) plants from the Ventura River bottom. These fast-growing non-native plants choke the river, kill native plants, provide shelter to the homeless and are a fire hazard. River Restoration Saturdays are a part of VHC's ongoing efforts to bring the Ventura River back to it's natural state and make it more welcoming to human and wildlife visitors alike.
We meet next to the Main St. Bridge along the bike path near downtown Ventura (at Main St. & Peking St.). Please wear pants, long sleeves, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and don't forget sunscreen and water!
