Join us in our mission to keep the Ventura River Estuary safe and clean!
On Friday, September 10th, 9AM-12PM Ventura Land Trust will be partnering with Ventura Police Patrol Task Force, Ventura's Safe & Clean Team, and CA State Parks to address a problem area in the Ventura River Estuary. We are hoping to gather up to 20 volunteers to assist with this cleanup effort.
This work may not be suitable for everyone. We are looking for volunteers age 18+ (16+ with guardian present) who are comfortable working in close proximity to homeless individuals and encampments. We do not judge; we seek to educate and compassionately manage a very complex problem in our watershed. Ahead of the event, VLT, VPD, and a Homeless Services Social Worker will be notifying campers of the cleanup, and offering services to help folks transition out of river residency. We are proud of this collaboration, and we hope you will join us in our effort to keep our community and watershed safe and clean.

Participants will receive additional details as we get closer to the event. In the meantime, feel free to contact [email protected] if you have any questions.
River restoration and cleanup events are a part of VLT's ongoing efforts to bring the Ventura River back to its natural state and make it more welcoming to human and wildlife visitors alike.

Please note: River cleanup volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Due to the nature of tools used and bio-hazardous materials occasionally found in the river estuary, we do not encourage young children to participate in these events. Please see our Events Page for more family-friendly outings!

Want to contribute more than sweat-equity? The Ventura Land Trust now offers affordable River Restoration Sponsorship opportunities. Environmentally-minded individuals and businesses are invited to support our habitat restoration work by financially contributing to the costs of cleaning, clearing and restoring the land. There's no better way to put your money to work!
