Ventura Land Trust Named as One of the Central Coast’s Best Places to Work!

The average American adult works for about 46 years of their life. If that person is working a typical full-time job, that equates to nearly 100,000 hours spent over a lifetime at work. It seems to me that if you’re going to spend so much time doing something, you ought to enjoy the work, the workplace, and the people you’re surrounded with!

For the third year in a row, VLT employees have self-reported that they believe our organization is a great place to work. We are very proud to announce that Ventura Land Trust is #16 on the 2025 Pacific Coast Business Times’s “Central Coast Best Places to Work” list. This list is comprised of 50 businesses across the Tri-Counties (Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties), and this year’s list includes just a handful of nonprofit organizations. Every year, PCBT surveys members of the business community on issues such as benefits, quality of life, how employees feel they are treated and how they are valued, and other factors. They then assign a score based upon employees’ responses.

A major factor in job satisfaction is believing that what you are doing makes a difference. Amy Davis, a member of our education team, says, “I love working with Ventura Land Trust because it is so integrated within our community, whether it's through our preserves, events or education programs, that you feel part of something larger that shapes the future of Ventura.”

Dan Hulst, VLT’s Deputy Director, agrees. "It is a pleasure to roll up my sleeves alongside amazing folks day in and day out and I am thankful to be able to work for an employer whose mission makes my community a better place!" 

When you are happy with the work you do, it doesn’t feel like work.
