Deputy Director
dan@venturalandtrust.org

Dan joined Ventura Land Trust in 2018 as the organization’s fifth employee and has grown alongside the organization ever since. Originally hired as Stewardship Manager, he went on to serve as Preserve Director and Stewardship Director before stepping into his current role as Deputy Director.

During his tenure, Ventura Land Trust has expanded from protecting 60 acres to nearly 4,000 acres, while growing from a five-person team to a staff of 29. Dan has contributed to this period of growth through both field-based stewardship leadership and organizational development. He has led the build-out and public opening of two large- scale nature preserves, including the development of approximately 15 miles of new singletrack trail designed to balance ecological integrity with meaningful public access.

In addition to overseeing stewardship initiatives, Dan also supports the organization’s accounting and administrative functions, helping strengthen internal systems during a time of rapid growth. He is particularly passionate about expanding responsible public access and ensuring Ventura County residents have opportunities to connect with nature.

Originally from Waterford, California, Dan graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. After moving to Ventura in 2016, he began volunteering with Ventura Land Trust before officially joining the staff.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys spending time in the ocean and mountains and feels fortunate to align his profession with his love of the outdoors.
