Ventura Wild is an education program of Ventura Land Trust, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Our program fees reflect the true cost of providing high-quality outdoor education, supporting experienced educators, thoughtful program preparation, and the resources that make meaningful nature experiences possible.
By participating in Ventura Wild, families are also supporting Ventura Land Trust's mission to protect the landscapes that inspire learning, stewardship, and connection.

Understanding Our Program Fees
As a nonprofit, we believe in transparency. Below is a snapshot of how program fees are invested to create safe, meaningful, and high-quality outdoor learning experiences.

Our greatest investment is in our people.
We provide fair, competitive wages that support both field time and the thoughtful planning behind every class. By maintaining a 4:1 participant-to-educator ratio, we create safe, engaging experiences with individualized support for every child.
● Operations & Administration - 21%
Keeping programs safe, organized, and running smoothly.
This supports the behind-the-scenes systems that make every program possible, including registration, permits, insurance, technology, safety systems, and program coordination.
●Program Materials & Resources - 3%
Hands-on learning begins with the right tools.
From nature journals and field guides to craft supplies, binoculars and other exploration equipment.
●Staff Training & Professional Development - 2%
Great educators never stop learning.
We invest in ongoing training, including Wilderness First Aid & CPR, skill-building, and professional development focused on supporting diverse learners.
●Equity & Access - 2%
Helping more children experience nature.
We invest in grant writing, fundraising, scholarships, and payment plans to expand access and help ensure cost is never a barrier to outdoor learning.
Using Charter Funds
Ventura Wild is an approved vendor with local charter schools, allowing eligible families to use charter funds toward program fees.

Financial Assistance & Scholarships
We believe every child should have the opportunity to connect with nature. Thanks to grants, community support, and generous donations from Ventura Wild families, we offer scholarships and flexible payment plans to help make our programs more accessible.
We recognize that every family's financial situation is unique and cannot always be reflected by household income alone. Our scholarship process is based on trust and operates on an honor system. We encourage families to request the level of assistance they truly need, and we will do our best to provide support while extending our scholarship resources to as many children as possible.
How to Apply for Financial Assistance
To request financial assistance, please complete our Scholarship Application before registering for a program.
When applying, consider what your family is able to contribute and the amount of assistance that would make participation possible.
Flexible payment plans are also available. To discuss payment options or if you have questions about your application, please email us at venturawild@venturalandtrust.org.
After submitting your application, you'll receive a confirmation email with next steps. If you don't receive a confirmation or your registration doesn't reflect your approved scholarship amount, please contact us.
