Film Screening of North Shore Betty & Community Conversation: Sharing the Trail Stoke

With more and more hikers and cyclists on the trails, what are the rules for navigating one another with respect, while protecting the outdoor spaces we love?

On October 27th, join VLT for a three-part event. We'll start at Harmon Canyon Preserve for a bike ride guided by Preserve Director Dan Hulst. Then, we'll gather at Ventura's Patagonia HQ for a screening of Patagonia's mountain bike short film North Shore Betty, followed by a community conversation on practices for safely sharing trails.

Meet @ Harmon Canyon Trailhead: 4:45PM
    Ride Start: 5:00PM
    Patagonia Doors Open: 6:30PM
    Event Start: 7:00PM

This event is free, but please RSVP through Patagonia's website.

    More about the film:

“The misty forests above North Vancouver, British Columbia, are hallowed ground for mountain biking, a place so harrowing it’s influenced every aspect of the sport for over 30 years. It’s also where Betty Birrell, at age 45, picked up mountain biking after a career as a mountaineer and professional windsurfer. Three decades later, the single mother is a role model for her son, her friends and anyone she’s met along the way—and proof that you’re never too old to send.”

Join us in our mission to keep the Ventura River Estuary safe and clean! River restoration and cleanup events are a part of VLT's ongoing efforts to bring the Ventura River back to its natural state and make it more welcoming to human and wildlife visitors alike.

This work may not be suitable for everyone. We are looking for volunteers age 18+ (16+ with guardian present) who are comfortable working in close proximity to homeless individuals and encampments. We do not judge; we seek to educate and compassionately manage a very complex problem in our watershed.
